Who is my favorite author?

So I found another nice Spark on SocialSpark! Wow, go me. Haha. Anyways…

My favorite author has always been Stephen King. Ever since I was fourteen and read Carrie for the first time, I was hooked on his books! Although I’ve gotten into similar authors like Dean Koontz and John Saul, my favorite author has always been Stephen King first and foremost. Some of my favorite books by him are Carrie, Christine, The Stand and his novella The Langoliers, which was the first story featured in the compilation Four Past Midnight if I recall.

  • Okay, so I put up a new theme.

Most of you already knew this, but I’ve been looking around for some other good themes for awhile. Although I usually use the themes that are posted on Grab A Theme, I went looking for something different this time… and this came up in my searches. For the most part, I like things that are girly and reasonably pretty… but as long as they’re not covered in nothing but glitter and neon pink, I’m good with just about anything that fits those two requirements…

This looks best in Firefox, but it looks good in other browsers too. I think. :P

For those of you that might be new to my blog or don’t already know, I am a strong advocate of a lot of the things that are talked about on Mothering.com, which is a mothering and parenting website that I’ve been a big fan of since my pregnancy. I know I’ve written some about this in my mom blog, but while my son is taking his afternoon nap I had to come back and write about it in my main blog as well. Through this, I have made a lot of friends who think the same way as me on many important aspects of child rearing and parenting…

One of the things that I’ve noticed more and more through my casual reading of the various articles on this website is that the United States differs from many of the other countries in the world in many of the standard ways that they choose to parent and raise their children. And a lot of them are good, because we have a lot more knowledge at our disposal when it comes to ways that we can keep our children safe and ensure their health that a lot of other, smaller countries might not easily have as much access to. And just so you guys know, I’m not one of those mothers who refuses to get their child vaccinated just because it might “taint their [fragile little] bodies”; newsflash, they took mercury out of almost all of the vaccines in about 2001 when it was reported that more children recieving vaccines with mercury in them were at a greater risk for developing autism. However, you can’t really help but think.

But yeah, like I’ve said, check out Mothering.Com if you’re someone’s mother whenever you get a chance. This is by far my favorite site when it comes to reading about parenting strategies and talking to parents who believe in these!

Does anyone know who actually won the Power of Veto on the live feeds of Big Brother last night? I mean, I’m happy that Jerry won Head Of Household since he would surely have gone home otherwise, but I don’t want to see Dan of all people go home because of that. Out of all of the people that are left in the house, I wouldn’t be that upset to see Memphis go at this point… but I think when I say that, I’m going against the majority of America because I can tell based on the poll that they have at Jokers’ Updates that people like him. I know that my good friend Jen does! She also loves the Mole just as much as I did, and her and I were both right from the first episode all the way to the last.

I’ve also studied for my upcoming Sociology quiz, so I’m going to tackle the two chapters that I have to have read for my Speech class next. I have to have them studied by Tuesday, which is when we’re going to go over them during lecture in considerably greater detail, and then we’re going to have our first speeches assigned somewhere around that point. They’ll just be rudimentary “about me” speeches to let us get our feet wet for the class…

Edit: Memphis won the Power of Veto, and he’s going to take Dan off. Knew it.
