Since I have a little bit of spare time here…

I might as well come here and write something fairly long to make up for the fact that I’ve been… dare I say, a little busy lately. I’ve been studying for the third terminology test that we have to take for my Nursing class, and I did some of the exercises that the little book that came with the class have. Although I’m not usually one to pore over material extensively, having never properly learned how to “study” as a grade schooler, this has actually helped me remember a lot of the prefixes and the suffixes that are commonly used…

Here in a little bit, Jason has another one of his ophthalmologic appointments. In about a week or so, I’m going to make myself a doctor’s appointment of my own because that cough that I’ve had for the last two months… has not gone away, and actually seems to be getting worse. More and more frequently have I found myself growing short of breath to the point that it hinders my daily activities, possibly worries some of my closer friends who see these repeated coughing fits, and makes me feel like I can’t get a full breath of air… more and more. I know that I have asthma, but this has really taken the cake. Ordinarily, I try to “fight through” a lot of the things that I might get sick with in the hopes that they’ll eventually go away on their own, but I’ve actually gotten to the point of panicking because I felt like I couldn’t breathe a few times now.

Exercising more than I already do has, lo and behold, helped… but it’s not enough to make a noticeable difference, other than making me feel fit… ter.

When I was little, my parents instilled it into me to care about the environment… especially my grandmother, as I remember. I grew up recycling, and knowing how to recycle, almost as if it were second nature. When I went to school, there were almost always recycling tins around for students to put their disposable goods into; as a matter of fact, I believe that we have some recycling tins in the front of the student center up on campus now. With that said, as much as we recycle now, I think it’s just as important for us to look for other means of energy as well. Although recycling alone is certainly the first step that we need to have taken to help out the planet that we live on, there’s plenty more that can be done to help out the planet as well.

One of these days, I’d like to look into getting a Solar Cooling System. Sunlight is one of the most prevalent sources of energy that we have at our disposal today, and it’s a lot less expensive than the sometimes hefty electrical bill that we as Americans tend to pay every month. Over the long haul, this will save me a lot of money, and it won’t take long for it to have paid for itself with the amount of money that I would save having it. And saving money is really nice!

Unlike some of the other fuels out there that we use to fuel our daily lives, sunlight is in an absolute abundance. We’re not going to have to worry about running out of it for a good long while, and we don’t have to chop anything down or kill anything to extract sunlight from anything. Besides, sunlight is always around during the day when we need it… even when it’s cloudy outside!
