Where Dani writes about… just about everything!
One day, I’m going to be on Medicare. As I continue to age, I know that this is going to be an inevitable part of life. Although it might not happen for several more years, it’s still good that I know about how it works so I’m not completely lost when that day comes. Not a lot of people know this, but Medicare doesn’t always cover the full cost of your health care. There are a variety of medicare supplements that can be bought to accommodate for this. Depending on the cost of health care in your area and where you live, the rates that are charged for these supplements can vary.
Other things like pre-existing conditions and smoking status can also decide what rates you’re charged, as can they also determine whether or not you’re eligible for a certain supplement. Since I have asthma, I’m planning on talking to a licensed agent when I get older. They can help me decide what policies are the best for me, as can they also help me save money! Given that inhalers aren’t cheap, I’m really looking to do that last part. Right now, my inhalers would run me approximately $70 out of pocket if I didn’t have insurance. As it is, I’m probably going to have to get stronger medicine after my second child is born because the inhalers that I’m currently prescribed are barely working.
